In virtually any type of Japanese garden, stones are a main ingredient. They represent rocks and mountains, provide mass and depth even in small areas, are beautiful to look at, they last forever and are practical to step on. All our stones are solid famous green schist ('aoi ishi') from Shikoku, which can be found in classical gardens throughout Japan - especially tea gardens. These stones are mainly garden stones, but stepping stones will arrive soon.
Choosing and setting stones for your garden is a special craft. All stones are selected by gardener, artist, and landscape architect Kees Ouwens. If you prefer, Shofukan.com can make the garden design and lay out the garden for you according to your wishes and specifications (see our Design section).
